HOLIDAY CHEERS
18 DECEMBER 2008
Imagine our surprise when Bryan Hamill dropped The Silver Screams' Christmas EP,
Don't Bogart the Eggnog, on our desk and said "I finished this. Can we put it out before Christmas?" This happened yesterday.
The Rev offices immediately sprang to life, and next thing you know we have fully prepared a digital release of the record just in time for the
holidays! Don't Bogart the Eggnog is six original holiday tunes penned and played by Hamill, and is the perfect thing to get you in the
spirit of the season. Roll over to our webstore for the download. Want to gift it to that indie rock lover on
your holiday list? No worries! Instructions at the store.

ROAD WORK AHEAD
22 OCTOBER 2008
Please excuse our seeming absence from the Internet community over the past few months. We would like to
assure you that, while you haven't heard about it, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes at the Rev. In addition
to preparing for the release of three new albums over the next few months, we are also performing a massive overhaul on
the little corner of the Web at which you currently find yourself. The first evidence: we've converted our
Events page to a Google calendar, which will hopefully make things easier on you and certainly make
things easier on us. Stay tuned for updates, and sign up for our newsletter (top right of this page) to make staying tuned
much simpler.

ITS ACTUALLY AN APATOSAURUS
14 JUNE 2008
Do you hear that distant, low rumbling? This record sounds nothing like that. The Rev is proud to
announce its fifth release, Bronotsaurus : Human, now available in our webstore.
The record is the result of April's Following Friday, where 12 bands played a song each. The compilation, a fundraiser
for Capital District Federation of Ideas, sounds as great as
you'd expect, packed to the brim with amazing Albany bands. All proceeds will go straight to keeping CDFI afloat.

LITTLE FLOWERS MAKE YOU DANCE LIKE A FOOL
6 JUNE 2008
The Rev is thrilled, honored, humbled to announce that this fall it will be releasing the first album by
MotherJudge and Mitch Elrod.
MJ and Mitch, each titans of the Albany music scene in their own rights, have been working on this collaborative release for,
no joke, eight years. The results of their labors are nothing short of genius, and the Rev could not be happier to help bring it
to the world. If you're having as much trouble waiting for the record as we are, join MotherJudge and Mitch tonight at
Tang Museum at Skidmore College in Saratoga, NY, for a rooftop performance.
Check back soon for their artist page, the first single's release, and more!

TOO MUCH ROCK FOR ONE BAND
10 APRIL 2008
The Rev gets some serious Albany love today for tomorrow's Following Friday Super
Show. Write ups appear in two of our favorite loval media outlets, the Times Union and the hot new blog
sensation All Over Albany. Thanks to both! To all the rest of you, I think you see how important it is that you show up tomorrow
night. 7 pm sharp, $3 donation. |

ACHEIVEMENT YOU CAN SET YOUR WATCH BY
5 MARCH 2008
During the month of February, along with thousands of bands around the world, The Rev family threw into
the annual RPM Challenge. The creators of the Challenge ask that
musicians create an album completely in one month; presumably, they chose the shortest month of the year to make it more
interesting. The Rev president Harith Abdullah and longtime collaborator Jon Schubin used the opportunity to make a new record
under the moniker 00shoe Troupe, a nine-year-old project born well before either of them knew how to make music.
The Rev is delighted to offer the ensuing album, Good Day Monster, now available in our
online store.

YOU CAN'T HANDLE THIS MUCH ROCK
24 JANUARY 2008
Last February, we here at the Rev put on a rock show so epic, it could not be contained in just one year.
Thus we are proud to announce the second annual Unreasonably Awesome Show will be held Friday,
February 1 at Valentine's! This year, we've expanded the show to both floors, bringing you even more rock, but still
for the ridiculously low price of just $5! If you can think of a reason to miss this, we'd sure like to hear it,
right before we talk you out of it. Check out events section for the long and absurdly great list of performers.

and Cultural Relativity, but also to dress in your Halloween best for a full-on COSTUME CONTEST,
complete with special guest Celebrity Judges! Dress to impress, because there will be vaulable prizes on the line.

PARDON OUR DUST
17 SEPTEMBER 2007
You are looking at the brand new virtual home of the Rev Records! Unfortunately, websites are not among
those myriad objects that come out of the box shiny - it's going to take some time before things stop creaking and cracking
around here. We are on top of it; if you see something that's not working, please do tell us.
In the meantime, we hope you enjoy our addition to the series of tubes.

DEJA
1 JULY 2007
The Rev Records is absolutely giddy to announce that we have acquired the rights to distribute
Krysta Dennis' brilliant debut album, Empty
Pockets. Self-released by the Albany singer-songwriter in January of last year, Empty Pockets
is now the second addition to our little catalogue, and Ms. Dennis the newest member of our little family.

QUIET ROCKING
25 MAY 2007
The Rev has cooked up yet another way for you to enjoy Albany music on a monthly basis. This one is called
Following Friday, and will be held the second Friday of every month at Point 5, the headquarters
of the Capital District Federation of Ideas. The premise is simple: the artist rocks it out, acoustic, with no mics and no amps of
any kind. You watch. Then, we make the recordings available absolutely for free right here on our website. The first installment will
feature our very own Bessam Sam and take place on June 8, 2007.
Get there early, we start at 8:00 sharp.

MUSIC=POETRY, VICE VERSA
4 APRIL 2007
Our good friends over at Albany Poets Inc. are getting ready for their
annual festival, Albany Word Fest, which is coming up the weekend of April 20. Held every
year in honor of National Poetry Month, Word Fest is a two-day, multi-venue event that
highlights local poets while also bringing in elements of music and art. The Rev will be
duly represented at this year's proceedings, with our very own Tom McWatters performing at Psycho Cluster F&%k, the aptly named
weekend-closing event. Head over to the Albany Word Fest website for more information.

THE REV RECORDS SELLS SUGARY TREATS
2 MARCH 2007
The Rev Records has announced plans for its latest crackpot scheme.
To raise funds for future releases, the Rev will be staging a rock concert and bake
sale at the Lark Tavern on Sunday, March 25 at 8 PM. The show will
serve as the unofficial-official kickoff to the Rev's new series at the Tavern, and
feature seven (count 'em, SEVEN) the Rev artists. Check out the
Events section for more details.

A SHOW FOR THE AGES
15 JANUARY 2007
The Rev Records had a crazy idea for a new tradition: a show so full
of rock it would literally spill over the sides of... something. We hope you will all
join us for the First Annual Unreasonably Awesome Show. The Rev
artist Jared Funari will be joined onstage by fellow Albany rockers Scientific Maps
and The Sense Offenders (itself containing two The Rev artists, the McWatters brothers),
as well as Fire Flies from New York City and the Grownup Noise from Boston. How much
would you pay for a night so unreasonable? Don't answer that, because you're already
wrong: all this is only FIVE DOLLARS! And it all goes down on Groundhog
Day, to boot. Have you ever had an excuse to celebrate Groundhog Day? We think not.
Valentine's, upstairs, February 2, 7:00 doors. Don't be the only one
to miss it, you'll feel awfully silly.

CITY OF BROTHERLY ROCK
12 DECEMBER 2006
Mrs. McWatters must be so proud: The Rev Records announces albums by both Tom McWatters and Matt McWatters. Tom, lead singer of the Sense Offenders, is working on a handful of solo acoustic and piano tunes. Matt, who plays bass in the Sense Offenders, is plotting a full-band album with shows to match. Both releases should be out later this year.

THE GROOVE STARTS HERE
19 NOVEMBER 2006
Today marks the release of Laura Boggs' album Whiskey & Springtime,
and with it, the launch of The Rev Records! We couldn't be happier with Laura's album,
a really beautiful piece of pop-folk (or Alt-Folk Indie Americana, if you prefer) made with great care by a bunch of friends, and we can think of no better way to start
down our road. Join us tonight at Tess' Lark Tavern in Albany to celebrate!
